Local SEO Services for UK Businesses

When someone searches for a plumber, dentist, solicitor or accountant near them, they’re ready to act. Local SEO makes sure your business appears at that moment, in Google Maps, the local pack and the organic results beneath it.

Hi, I’m Praveen Selva, Freelance SEO Consultant. I provide local SEO services for UK businesses, whether you serve one postcode, work across several branches or travel to your customers. I’ve worked on local, e-commerce and international sites across eight years in SEO. You work directly with me, and reporting is in plain English, tied to calls, direction requests and enquiries rather than vanity rankings.

Local SEO for your type of business

Single location. Usually the quickest to improve. The priorities are a well-built Business Profile, strong reviews and a site that clearly states what you do and where.

Multiple locations. Each branch needs its own profile and its own useful page, with local details that differ for real: team, services, opening hours, directions. Copy-and-paste location pages are a waste of everyone’s time.

Service-area businesses. If you travel to customers, you can hide your address on your profile and define the areas you cover. The work then leans harder on your website and on organic rankings, because the map pack favours proximity.

What decides who appears in the local pack

Google says local results rely mainly on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. You can’t change distance. You can improve relevance, with the right categories, services and content, and prominence, with reviews, links, mentions and a well-known brand. That’s where the work goes. And where the map pack isn’t realistically winnable for a search, I’ll say so and show you where organic results are the better bet.

UK specifics worth getting right

  • Directories and platforms: Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yell and trade-specific directories such as Checkatrade, where relevant to your business.
  • Address rules: Google doesn’t allow virtual offices or mailboxes for Business Profiles. Using one risks suspension.
  • Business names: your profile name should match your real-world name. Adding keywords to it breaches Google’s guidelines.
  • Reviews: genuine reviews only. Incentivised or gated reviews put the profile at risk.

The local SEO audit

Before any ongoing work, I review:

  1. Your Business Profile setup and any duplicate or unverified listings
  2. Consistency of your details across key directories
  3. Your review profile compared with the businesses ranking above you
  4. Your location and service pages
  5. What the local results actually look like for your main searches

You’ll get a prioritised plan covering what to fix first, what to build next and what to leave alone.

Mistakes I see regularly

  • Keywords stuffed into the business name
  • Duplicate listings left over from an old address or an old agency
  • One generic page covering every town served
  • No tracking, so nobody knows whether local SEO is working
  • Chasing the map pack in places where proximity makes it unwinnable

How it works

  1. Discovery call: your locations, services, competitors and goals.
  2. Local SEO audit: profile, citations, reviews, site and live results.
  3. Plan and fixes: a prioritised plan, with changes made by me or by your team.
  4. Reporting: monthly, in plain English, covering calls, directions, enquiries and movement for the searches that matter.

Technical SEO pricing

I offer a one-off local SEO audit, a set-up project, or an ongoing monthly retainer. Cost depends on the number of locations, how competitive your area is and what you want done. [starting price €300]. After a short call you’ll get a fixed scope and quote.

FAQ

How much do local SEO services cost in the UK?

It depends on the number of locations, how competitive your local market is and the scope of work. [€300]. I’ll quote once I’ve seen your current setup.

Profile fixes and listing clean-ups can show movement within weeks. Competitive areas and prominence-building take longer. Anyone who guarantees a top-three position by a set date is guessing.

If you’re a service-area business, yes, but you’ll need to set it up properly. You can’t use a virtual office or mailbox as an address.

It’s strongly recommended. A profile alone gets you a certain distance, but your site supports relevance and gives people somewhere to go.

I can set up a simple, compliant process for asking genuine customers. I won’t buy, fake or incentivise reviews.

Yes, remotely. If you’d like a more local page, I also work with businesses in London, Manchester, Leeds and Ealing.
